The generation of solid waste from various activities in modern society has become one of the biggest challenges faced today.
The relentless pursuit of environmentally acceptable practices and methodologies aimed at minimizing solid waste generation and ensuring the proper final disposal of this waste, in order to minimize environmental impacts, thereby promoting environmental quality and public health, has undoubtedly become one of the greatest challenges faced by companies and society.
Proper waste management by the generator minimizes the potential for damage from contamination and pollution, as repairing damage can be technically more complicated and involves significantly more financial resources than prevention. Similarly, State Decree No. 38.356/98 establishes in Article 9 that the responsibility for the proper disposal of generated waste lies with the generator, regardless of hiring third-party services.
Whatever the method of solid waste management, it must comply with current environmental laws and regulations, as mentioned in Federal Law No. 12.305/2010, which establishes the National Solid Waste Policy, regulated by Federal Decree No. 7404/2010, as well as State Law No. 14.528/2014, which establishes the State Solid Waste Policy. Both laws aim to diagnose waste generation, structured around actions that encourage the implementation of activities promoting environmental, economic, and social sustainability, prioritizing actions for reduction, reuse, and recycling.
The Industrial Solid Waste Management Plan of QS follows the guidelines established by Law 12.305 of August 2, 2010, regulated by Decree No. 7404 of December 23, 2010, which establishes the National Solid Waste Policy, and by State Law No. 14.528/2014, which establishes the State Solid Waste Policy.
